Catherine Agnes McIntyre (known as Kate) - WW1 Nurse: 100 Years of WW1 Commemoration continues...
A
long time ago, in a galaxy far away… (well, earlier this year actually!) the 'old' Otautau
Museum Blog posted about the McIntyre brothers Charlie & Ernie and their
roles in WW1, for our 100 years of WW1 Commemoration. Then, a computer crash
and the blog login was lost, as it had been set up by a previous person at the
museum. So, I’ve
now resurrected the WW1 Commemoration blog at a new address, and once again continue the McIntyre
Family story where I left off sometime earlier:
Catherine
Agnes McIntyre (known as “KATE”)
22/210 – NZ Army Nursing Services
Corp:
Born in 1883, Kate was one of 4 members of her family who actively participated in serving her country in WW1. She grew up at Thornbury, Western Southland, and was the daughter of John & Catherine (nee Bath) McIntyre of “Rothiemurchus”.

Her brothers Charles and Ernie, plus her sister Lotte, also actively served for NZ in WW1.
Kate served a total of 3 years and 222 days with the Nursing Service. On her return to NZ, she married Walter John Duncan, in 1920. Kate died in Wellington in 1932 and is interred at the Karori Cemetery in Wellington.
